And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel:
But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
Psalm 106:10-15
HOW EASY IT IS FOR HUMANS TO FORGET WHERE WE CAME FROM OR WHAT GOD HAS BROUGHT US THROUGH. NO, IT DOESN’T PAY TO DWELL ON THE PAST TOO MUCH BUT REMEMBERING THE GOODNESS OF GOD IS VERY IMPORTANT. HE WANTS US TO REALIZE WE CAN DEPEND ON HIM TO DELIVER US FROM OUR ENEMIES AND THAT HE IS WORTHY TO BE PRAISED.
BECAUSE ONCE WE FORGET THAT, WE’LL FORGET TO SEEK HIM AND TO ASK WHICH WAY WE NEED TO GO IN THIS WALK OF LIFE. WE WILL START ALLOWING THE FLESH(Carnal mind) TO TALK TO US AND CHANGE OUR DIRECTION. AND IF WE BECOME STUBBORN GOD WILL LET US GO TO TEACH US A LESSON—ONE WE’LL WISH WE NEVER HAD TO LEARN. YES, SOMETIMES WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMY.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
IN THE BOOK OF EXODUS, THE ISRAELITES ARE PRIME EXAMPLES OF A GROUP OF BELIEVERS WHO PRAYED FOR GOD’S DELIEVERANCE. AFTER THEY RECEIVED THEIR ANSWER THEY PRAISED HIM, BUT SOON THEY FORGOT ABOUT HIS FAITHFULNESS AND GOODNESS. THEN MOST OF THEM BEGAN TO BE DISSATISFIED WITH THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES AND THEY MURMURED AND COMPLAINED. INSTEAD OF SEEKING GOD TO SATISFY THEIR SPIRIT(Drawing close to His heart) THE PEOPLE SOUGHT HIM TO MAKE THINGS EASY FOR THEIR FLESH(Supply things that made the “self” content). THEY WEREN’T LISTENING FOR HIS WISDOM OR GUIDANCE BUT THEY DID LISTEN TO THEIR OWN FLESHLY DESIRES FOR MEAT AND DRINK.
WE CAN’T BE COMPLAINING AND PRAISING GOD AT THE SAME TIME. A DOUBLE MINDED MAN IS UNSTABLE IN ALL HIS WAYS-
James 4:1-10
From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
SOMETIMES WE’VE GOT TO HUMBLE OURSELVES LIKE A CHILD. JESUS SAID WE CAN'T ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD IF WE'RE NOT LIKE THIS. BE THANKFUL FOR YOUR FATHER’S LOVE AND BLESSINGS. YOU MUST TRUST THAT HE IS WATCHING OUT FOR YOU AND DESIRES ONLY THE BEST FOR HIS CHILDREN. AND HE WANTS YOU TO SHARE IN THE GLORY OF HIS KINGDOM NOW AND IN THE WORLD TO COME.
Psalm 84:11
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly
Constant grumbling, complaining, and wallowing in self-pity can end in the loss of your inheritance in God's family. Just like it did for many Israelities who provoked God in the wilderness. They died there and never reached the promised land; the people who were rescued out of the land of slavery-Egypt(type of the world). Don't turn around and look back longingly like them.. or as Lot's wife did and was turned into a pillar of salt. Afterall, (esp. since 2020) you know there is nothing good to return to in this deceptive, dying and devilish world where evil is called good and good is called evil. (Isaiah 5:20)
