MINDSET-A fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person's responses to and interpretations of situations.
Satan can be called a liar, a thief and a murderer but he can’t be called lazy. Ironic statement but it’s true. He’s working 24/7 to try to destroy God’s people. Though he’s busy all the time, he likes to “set” a lot. (Pun intended) He’s constantly attempting to set us up, set us down or set on us.
He will set us up with pleasures of this world…idols… or maybe false beliefs. But Jesus said for us to watch and pray lest we enter into temptation. If we’re prayed up or are praying continually then we will see the traps Satan is setting or else God will lead us safely around it.
Satan would like nothing better than to set us down to wallow in self-pity because of circumstances in life. And if he can first distract us from God’s Word then he could deceive us with lies. Once we believe his lies then discouragement isn’t far behind. The only remedy is to get back to the Word of God and get encouraged again by Him.
Another way Satan may attack is by persecution. It can come in different forms and from different directions. His intention is to make it a heavy weight that keeps us from moving forward in faith. But God’s Word says to rejoice when we are counted worthy to be persecuted for his name sake. If we praise Him in the midst of it, we will eventually come through it with more victory than before.
Praying, studying the Word, and praising God are supposed to be habitual-or a natural part of the Christian’s life. And the House of God is the place where all of that can be exercised or put into effect. Plus, we need to keep doing the same thing all through the week. We have to be diligent because Satan is like a roaring lion out to devour any Christian that he can entice off the path of godliness and faith.
The enemy will use fear to distract us from the truth of the gospel. Jesus came that we can have life and more abundant life. Eternal life. The Word in II Timothy 1:7 reads 'For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind'. Because we are redeemed children of God through Jesus' sacrifice, we don't have to allow Satan to take over our minds..our lives.. with fear of him and his diabolical schemes.
How To Have a Spiritual Mindset
Because we know that Satan has set out to destroy us then we need to get a mindset to listen to the Word and believe and obey it. One very important task or vigil we must keep is to protect the gateway to our spirit—which is our mind. The Bible says for us to keep our mind stayed upon him and he will give us peace. We should always hold to the truth that “TO BE SPIRITUALLY MINDED IS LIFE AND PEACE BUT TO BE CARNALLY MINDED IS DEATH. You see it’s all a matter of life and death…
Below are some memory verses for you to meditate on each day-preferably first thing in the morning-to guide and protect your mindset throughout the day. Along with these powerful verses ask Jesus to help you stay focused on His love and grace. He is faithful to His people.
Colossians 3:1-3 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God.
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Philippians 4:6,7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 4:22-24 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Romans 12:1,2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, wil
II Corinthians 10:4,5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
